ConsultGenie is an online marketplace for independent consultants and contractors (Providers). Providers can search and bid for Opportunities of their interest, set their terms and get paid what they’re worth. Buyers post Opportunities.

You can build a profile, search challenging opportunities in your area of work and get in touch with the best buyers. All providers are screened by ConsultGenie and rated by their clients. Providers with higher ratings appear first in search results. You can enhance your ratings by getting feedback from your clients and enhancing your profile on ConsultGenie. You can also get featured on our home page if you are among the best providers. You can benefit from industry Mavens (mentors) via the GenieSpeak blog and articles.

A Maven is an expert in his or her area of work. Mavens are well recognized in their industry. At ConsultGenie, they are also mentors.

To sign up as a Provider on Consult Genie click the “Register” link on the top right of our web pages. You can also click the ‘Join as a Provider’ button on our home page.

You can join as a provider for FREE. However when you start billing buyers and avail our secure Escrow facility you will be required to upgrade to the Classic plan by paying INR 1,000 per quarter. When you get paid for your work Consultgenie will deduct 8% fee from the amount and pay you the rest post taxes, if any.

Posting your profile is quick and easy. You can complete your profile after the registration process or by logging in anytime and going to My Profile. You can set your availability status and hide/unhide your work history.

Your profile is your first connection with a potential buyer and can make all the difference! To make a great lasting impression on buyers you need to have a well polished profile. Be sure to list all your skills, professional history, academic qualifications and any certifications that you have earned. Enter your billing rate. Acquire certifications regularly and get your clients to give you favorable feedback to increase your rating.

Buyers use keywords to search for providers. Having the right keywords in your profile will increase the probability of the right employers noticing you.

ConsultGenie handpicks Featured Providers with help from mavens, based on their expertise and credentials. These are among the best providers in their areas of expertise. There is no cost to be being a featured provider.

Login and click the Settings link on the top right of the page. You will be able to make all the changes you want.

It’s easy. Click ‘Find Opportunities’ and choose a category/sub category. Refine your search using the advanced search.

There is no fee for applications. Once you’ve identified an opportunity of interest, click the Apply button, review your information in the form that opens and enter preliminary time and cost estimates, if any, and submit. An email will be sent to the buyer and you’ll be listed in the buyer’s candidate list.

The Buyer pays an extra fee to get their Opportunity listed at the top of search results or even on our home page. Featured opportunities demonstrate the seriousness of buyers.

A bid has to be requested by the Buyer. Once you receive an email request to bid, select the Opportunity from My Opportunities and click ‘Submit Bid’

Once the buyer hires you an email is sent to you and a message is stored in your Inbox section. If you are interested in the offer you should open the item in your inbox and click Accept. You can click Reject if you are not interested.

We advise you to ensure that you get paid by signing a legal contract with the buyer and negotiating for advance payment. ConsultGenie does not interfere in contracts or payments between Buyer and Provider.

No. You are responsible for forwarding your proposal and discussing your terms and conditions with the buyer directly.

Feedback score is computed as a weighted average of buyer ratings of a provider on five attributes, which are skills, quality, communication, cooperation and timeliness. The total feedback score is the average of scores from all buyers.

To request feedback from a buyer, past client or employer click the request feedback link in your Work Career section under your profile. An email will be sent to your employer/buyer.

No. Please call us if you think a feedback is inappropriate or abusive.

Abuse of the system is inappropriate or abusive language in any form of communication with other members, not following policies in the user agreement and soliciting opportunities and services outside the system. Please report abuse of the system if you are a victim or see it happening. You can report abuse using the Contact Us form and selecting the abuse subject.

Currently internet banking and credit card payments are allowed.

Currently all amounts are displayed in Indian Rupees though payments can be made in other currencies.

When Consultgenie pays you tax, if any, is deducted and remitted to government. You will be issued a tax certificate (Form 16A) at year end.

ConsultGenie does not interfere in agreements between Buyers and Providers.

Our secure Escrow system gives you peace of mind. All payments are made via escrow so you will never be taken for a ride. If a buyer does not pay you then you can raise a dispute and Consultgenie will withhold the funds in escrow until the buyer and you reach mutual agreement.
